Does Herbal Pest Control Actually Work? Lab Data vs Marketing

Where neem and eucalyptus oils genuinely perform — and the three pest types they will never fix.
What 'herbal' really means
Most herbal pest treatments in India use neem oil (azadirachtin), eucalyptus oil, lemongrass oil and clove oil as repellents. They are genuinely low-toxicity for humans and pets — but they are repellents and contact killers, not residual treatments.
Where it works well
Mosquito repellent applications. Ant trail disruption. Cockroach repulsion in small kitchens where you can't tolerate chemical residue. Households with infants under 6 months, pregnancy, or chemical-sensitive family members. We've run herbal-only protocols for hundreds of homes successfully.
Where it doesn't work
Termite control. Bed bugs. Established cockroach infestations. Rodent control. In these cases the residue time is too short and the active ingredient doesn't transfer through the colony. A good pest company will tell you honestly when herbal isn't the right tool — and offer a low-dose, food-grade chemical alternative.
